Our Review

Bose has been known for their quality speakers for a while now, and the Bose Companion 3 Series II speaker system is no different. They sound excellent and look awesome, but we have a few small gripes. The on/off for the sub should have been included on the control pod, but it wasn’t. You have to reach around to the back of the sub to turn it off. Also, the speaker cords may be considered short too short for some peoples liking. That being said, they are a truly a great set of pc speakers.

The Look

Bose speakers always look great, and these babies are no exception. The satellite speakers look slick and are mounted on stands. They won’t take up much space on your desk either, which is good. The Acoustimass bass looks great too. The whole unit has a kind of classic/retro vibe to it. Overall, everything looks solid and well made.

Setup

Pretty simple, you won’t need a tech manual to hook these up. Watch your speaker placement though, as the wires may be a bit short depending on where your putting them. You just hook your power cord into the wall, connect the speaker wires and run the audio cable to the PC. Easy as 1,2,3!

Sound Quality

The highs sounded great. You can hear things that you normally would not pick up on with other speakers. The mids and lows were good as well, you get a lot of sound out of the small package. I would compare the sound quality to the overall quality of the unit itself. You get what you pay for, and with Bose… you know you are getting Quality.

Should you buy it?

They can produce some amazing sounds, and will definitely fill a room up with music. If you pinch your pennies so tight, that Honest Abe cries…you may want to check out other units. On the other hand, if you’ve got the dough, these sexy little speakers may be for you.

Pros

  • The dual inputs are handy. You can pump your tunes to two different devices.
  • The satellite speakers are small
  • Amazing sound
  • Looks great, the control pod is cool as well.

Cons

  • Wires may be a bit short for some people
  • Awkwardly placed on/off button on the sub
  • The price
